KISS French Acrylic Nail Kit

I ventured out of my comfort zone the other night when it came to my nails. I normally wear the fake nails from Broadway or Nailene or even KISS and even the occasional no name brand that I have found from the Dollar stores. However, about four or five months ago I bought an acrylic kit on a whim while out at my CVS one night. After buying it I became to intimidated by it to even try to use it. I know, sad right? Yep! Well, a few nights ago I said NO MORE! I will defeat you acrylic or at least go down fighting! Nah, but it was something close to that...lol Here is a picture of the kit I used. It comes with white tips as well as the uncolored normal nail tips.

This kit was $10.00 at CVS. You can certainly buy it cheaper at Walmart. Things are always more expensive at drugstores but like I said, it was on a whim. Anyway, the first thing I noticed upon opening the package is that the brush they give you is a really nice quality brush. The handle is very well made and very sturdy and sleek. The brush bristles themselves are soft and very easy to work with. Definitely not like the brushes I remember them coming with years and years ago. I also must say that I did not use the tips that came in this kit. I decided to use my flared nail tips that I had bought from ebay months ago with this kit only for the simple fact that I am obsessed with the flared nail look. The tips in the kit look very nice and well made and I will be using them the next time I put on a set of nails.

I made sure that before I started applying the acrylics that I had a small cup for some pure acetone as well as a separate glass for the actual acrylic liquid. I did this because I wanted to keep my brush nice and soft and not take chances of the acrylic powder drying to the brush hairs and ruining my brush. I highly recommend you do the same because your brush will be ruined. I made sure to dip the brush in the acetone and wiggle it around after each application of the bead to my nails. This worked out perfectly and kept my brush in great condition. I actually found that it was alot easier than I thought to apply acrylic nails..now I'm obsessed...lol I still need to practice getting the areas around my cuticles a little better so that I don't have premature lifting but under the circumstances, I think I did a good job!

After the acrylics were done I then made a homemade sheer pink polish to put over them just because I love that light pink look. I made this polish by taking an old top coat clear polish and added a few drops of red polish to it and then a few drops of white polish to it and then shook it all up and voila!
Here is a picture of the finished nails. I love this kit and will continue to do acrylic nails more frequently. They give you quite a bit of product in this kit so you can do your nails many times especially if you have some of your own tips to use!
